Philipp Gallon & Pär Ålander
Philipp Gallon and Pär Ålander are visual artists living in Berlin and Stockholm, together the couple form Studio P–P. Their body of work consists mainly of photography but has a multidisciplinary approach, and includes painting, drawing, and bookmaking.
Studio P–P makes work that examines ideas around queer identity, community, mutual healing, and body- and sex-positivity. Using primarily self-portraits, they photograph each other and intimate moments together with a raw and unapologetic approach. For this particular project, for the first time they do not work with self-portraits, but turn their focus on other queer bodies instead.
For Instinct #8 Philipp and Pär started working on a new project called “One hour in our bed”. For this, they invite a number of queer Berliners into their bed to do whatever they want for exactly one hour. Their responses are documented and will result in a series of photographs and paintings.
Philipp studied Photography and Visual Communication at Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen, Germany. Pär studied Art Direction and Visual Communication at Berghs School of Communication, Stockholm, Sweden. Both have exhibited their work in solo- and group shows in Europe, the US, Canada, and Australia. Instinct #8 is their second joint exhibition.
