''I was a dancer, I earned my money dancing. I started ballet with 11 although I didn’t even know what ballet was. I just wanted to dance. I danced until I was almost 33. I danced for some of the best companies existing in the world. I had really hard times during this period of time. Some of this hard times were brought from “dancing” some were outside matters, some were my own issues. Classical ballet is a tradition (opposite of evolution), it is based on esthetics, specially now a days and it is taught as if it has nothing to do with science, physics, mathematics…or actually the universe. Isn’t the body, its anatomy, its movement part of science? Isn’t balancing, jumping and turning part of physics?
Don’t we belong to the universe?
As part of the exhibition I would like to show a small part of what struggle made me discover about ballet and about myself.
In these drawings I explain some of the basic ballet arms movements, its shapes, forms, lines and rules. I relate them with basic human body science, its movement in the space and geometry. I found answers to questions.
Since I was a child I was told that I wasn’t good at science, maths… but years later and due to struggle I discovered that it wasn’t true, that I just wasn’t ready to understand it at that time and that I am capable of that and more.
I re-learned and I teach everything myself, dancing, science, drawing, spraying…
